Seattle, WA (stl-wa)

Overall, very impressive. I'd say that for its size, this is by far the neatest Netcom POP I've ever seen. Very swank building, too.
Decent layout on the racks, mostly clean cabling (by Netcom standards, anyway!). Ladder racks are actually used, and no huge piles of old cabling wrapped around things. Okay, so it gets a bit messier behind gw1, but that picture didn't come out very well anyway...

The messiest stuff here, in fact, seems to be done by ELI (or maybe USWorst - I didn't look too closely)... NIU shelves on the floor? On PAINT CANS?

Spare equipment and empty boxes were all neatly stacked and well organized... Including the VIP2-50 for prt-or verilink, that ESSC repeatedly claimed wasn't there. I labeled it and put it in a clear space by the window. It's since been installed.

Ever wondered what happens when you step on that top shelf of a ladder that says "Not a step"? Looks like somebody found out.

More pictures of the building. This place looks mostly unchanged since the 40s. The architecture is straight out of Gotham City, the elevators are ancient Westinghouse "Selectric", with buttons that click in when you push them and pop out when it gets to the floor. The lobby ceiling is this beautiful carved brass-ish thing - the picture doesn't do it justice. And yes, that is real marble everywhere in the bathrooms.

Across the street, you can see another nifty building with nice carvings of what I assume is Chief Seattle. Across the other street, and clearly visible through the POP window, is this wacked-out, upside-down looking building. It makes me nervous. And then, down the street, way off in the distance is a round gray building - that's the Westin Hotel, behind which is the Westin Building, which is where all the other carriers and ISPs in Seattle are located.

Anyway, apologies for the poor quality of the pictures. It's the best I could do with a cheapo disposable camera.
